Structure and Function

Dooley Noted: 3/14/2015

Take a look at the spinal and pelvic radiographs of my friend and colleague, Lynne Ellen Kershaw.

You want to see these. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

Now, I want you to attempt a guess at where she experiences discomfort.

Look closely again at the structures.

Think you’ve got it?

Lynne Ellen has pain nowhere.

She feels amazing.

She is 61 years old, with idiopathic scoliosis.

She works 14 hours a day, and she eats a nutritious diet that is balanced for her needs.

She practices what she preaches, and she is constantly taking seminars and learning more about human movement.

She noted she used to have debilitating pain in her 30s.

But she changed her lifestyle.

She overhauled her diet and vastly improved her digestion.

She used movement to help her structures work to their utmost capacity.

Now, she is a brilliant mover. And moreover, she is a brilliant person, dedicated to helping others.

She is gorgeous inside and outside.

She gave me permission to share her films, because we are both tired of practitioners blaming pain on structure.

It’s a fallacy.

Pain is a cerebral program.

You may need a lifestyle overhaul.

Get assessed and corrected.

If your health team is pointing to radiographic findings, arm yourself with knowledge.

And never forget these films.

As always, it’s your call.
